We have a Math exam tomorrow on Chapters 1-3.  We are making our house tomorrow, so do not forget candy.

We have a magician coming in on Thursday at 9:30am.

We have our talent show on Friday.

Looking forward to Christmas, but this week continues to be super fun!

Well, it has been a whole week since I blogged.  Last night was crazy for my family, with the concert and hockey and volleyball...

Anyway, for school
We have:
 1)Flipped Essay test on Monday, Dec. 16
 2) Science project due this Friday, ready for presenting
 3) Math Christmas exam on chapters 1-3

For fun, we have
Dec. 13 - visit to Shadow Mountain
Dec. 17 - skating with our neighbours (Dunbar)$2
Dec. 18 - ginger bread houses (graham wafers) BRING CANDY for decorating
Dec. 19- magic show $2
Dec. 20 - talent show

Yawn, man is any one else tired??

Hello All,

Kind of a hectic day.  We tried to complete most of the Math that was over due.  Then we spent time working on our Science.  I will reiterate that the deadline is Dec. 13, NO EXCEPTIONS, this is because the students choose the medium of the project and how they were going to present it.

We started writing Journals today, and practicing our editing.

Monday midnight???

Hello Everyone,
We studied BEDMAS again with decimals today.  Math is due tomorrow.  Tuesday we start writing in our journals.. I will ask that the students  stake these home once a month for you to read.  There is something special about reading your child's writing.
We are just about finished "Flipped".  The students are still preparing for their science presentation, starting Dec. 13.
We are booked to go skating on Dec. 17.  Details to come.

Good evening everyone.

Hi,
November is almost over and report cards go out on Friday.  The students are working on a Science Project Sustainability.  I have given them a free rein to get out there and find out how an ecosystem can be sustained.  Most are doing something on Pollution, or environmental disasters.

In Math,  we are studying Multiplying and Dividing Decimals.  In all of the students report cards, I have written that they should practice times tables every night.

We had a very interesting speaker yesterday on "Cyber Bullying".  Ask your child to tell you about it.

We are almost finished the book, "Flipped".  The students will be preparing an essay on this.

That is all for tonight.

No Math tonight, except that most of the class did not finish yesterday's assignment.  Homework is due this Friday along with a signature on the MonthEnd.

We will have a Science test on Tuesday, Nov. 12, see Homework pkg. #8.

Happy November

Hi All,
I had a lecture for the students today on making sure that they are responsible for their marks in November, the first reporting period.  I am sorry to say their are about 10-12 students that are presenting "failing".  Not because the work is too hard, but because of the following reasons:

1) too much absenteeism
2) too much goofing around in class
3) disengagement in class discussions
4) not doing HOMEWORK

All of the combined will make it very hard for your child to succeed, if at least two of these problems can be resolved, there is a fighting chance.  I will always work hard for students that work hard.  I can not make a student learn or force them to listen... but  I will let a child know that they can do more, by giving them a letter grade they deserve.

So, Month End's are coming home tomorrow, and you will be fully informed of all the work your child needs to do before report cards.

Happy Hallowe'en week!

We have  a few requests for goodies this Thursday.  If you planned on bringing something and did not let me know maybe save it for another Friday.

We had a math test today, I hope they did well.  Our next unit is on Fractions, Decimals, Percents.

Homework sheet is going home today, due Friday.

Scary Story is due this Thursday, good copy and grave stone.

Hello Everyone,

We had a long talk today about "finishing work" and how good it felt when you were finished  task.  I have a hard time understanding how students can go through school without finishing projects.  I am hoping that this talk helped motivate them to take more care.

Good Morning Monday,

First of all, there are quite a few students who have trouble handing in work.  Since I can not read minds, your work is your evidence that you are actually learning something.  If a student does not hand in work, I have no choice but to write up an "I " form, or fail for the first term.
I will be contacting those student' s parents before the end of the month.
We will be creating our "Scary Story" this week- it is due on Oct. 31!
Homework sheets are coming out Tues.,but for tonight there is Math pg.69 #1-5.
social's test is Thursday.

Finally, Kaleeka came back from WE day in Vancouver.  We had a great discussion about making appositive difference in the world and treating each other with kindness.

Wazy Wednesday.

Hi all,

We are participating in the Great Canadian Mail Race. the students have to choose a place to send a letter to and hope to receive it back.  It is sent to another grade seven somewhere in Canada.  The return address is our school.  the first student to receive a letter back wins the race. 

We are having fun with Integers and the students are about to learn how to subtract.  It is tricky, or more like "taking a debt away".

We got into what kind of people Bryce and Julianna are today... as the Flipped continues.

Okay, I am back

After talking to a few parents, I realized that all this work IS appreciated and that at least my parents are checking the blog.  So here it goes,

Homework sheet has been sent home tonight.  We are studying "Integers" in Math and all my students received 5/5 except for those that were absent during those lessons.  Way to go.

I will be handing back their Autobiography, Math test and Science test this week.  We are studying living things in Science and learning about detrivores and decomposers.

We have started our first novel "Flipped" by Wendelin Van Draanen.  We will also be writing a Scary Story.

We are learning some smooth basketball moves in PE and I am very happy with the participation in the gym.
Homework sheet needs to be completed by Friday.  If you feel like you want a jump on interviews you are welcome to come in early.

Homework....WHAAATTT?

Yes, my dears,
Home work sheet #3 went home today.  You will also be trying to finish your Map for Socials.  Math is due tomorrow ( pg. 27 #1-5) and ( pg. 15 #1-3 ).   The big one is the Autoboigraphy!!

Manic Monday

It seemed to be a  Monday filled with energy, except for the teacher.  We reviewed "expressions" in Math this morning.
Some people have completed their "Autobiography" and I am looking forward to reading them. 
We are studying Ecosystems in Science and will be discussing limiting factors for organisms.
We are ramping up for our Terry Fox Run on Friday, each student is expected to bring in a  toonie.

hello weekenders

This week was a busy week.  We finished our second homework package, a those that did not will be doing homework on Monday at lunch...ouch!

We also had a mini math quiz this Friday that almost everyone aced! Way to go. We 

have our autobiography due on Wed. September 25.  

The Terry Fox Run is this Friday September. 27 starting at 9:00am.  As a lass we were hoping to raise $300.00 to support cancer research.

I love that everyone has come in their gym strip, keep up the good work.

Good Day Everyone

Well it has been a whole week since I talked to you.  It seems as though no one in this class is reading this blog, but  I will endure and hopefully some of you will catch on. 

Our second homework package is going home today, as well as some Math that may not have been completed in class.

We are studying "Literary devices" in Language Arts and I am hoping to read some Autobiographies soon.

MEET THE TEACHER IS Thursday, Sept. 19 and we are trying to raise at least $300.00 for the Terry Fox Run.  You can get more pledge forms from me.

Say CHEESE!

Hi Everyone,

Yes, Tuesday's are going to be our most difficult day of the week, because we have 5 academic blocks.  And today was particularly hard, because it was very warm in the school.  WE did have photos today to break up our day.  Many great smiles.

I sent home the first homework package today along with a news letter.  Please read it carefully.
The homework is due Friday of each week.

We are going to the beach on Thursday and I am so excited about our first class bonding experience.  We will be going with the other grade 7 students and I am sure that we will enjoy the day.  It is going to be HOT!

I think we have completed our organization of notebooks for the time being.  I encourage students to leave extra school supplies at home and bring them when needed.

We are pretty well half way through week two!!

We have completed the Math Assessment except for a few.  Tomorrow will be our first real grade 7 Math lesson.  I will be sending a homework package and newsletter to you Tuesday.

The first week was a blast!!

Hello All,

I was totally impressed with everyone's behaviour at the first assembly and barboque.  The week seemed to fly by and I think that this will be a good year!!

I would like all of you to respond to this blog so I know, you know where it is.  I would also like to have all forms in by Monday if possible.  Our work starts next week, and I expect a lot.

Tuesday's gone, midweek already

Hello everyone,

First of all, we forget to do agendas before lunch.  Please help me remember that we have to do Agendas on Monday and Wednesday before lunch.

I sent home forms today and will expect them back on Friday.  There are fees for the year, that can trickle in if need be.  I am sure we are all suffering from Empty Pockets due to the summer holidays.

We will formally start some subjects this week, and you are so lucky to have a Math Assessment on Friday.  Yeha!!
